[1] Parents may be able to reduce the likelihood that
their teens will become problem drinkers in college
by keeping close tabs on them in high school. New
research from the University of Maryland found
[5] that alcohol consumption by college students is
directly tied to the amount of drinking they did in
high school. Kids whose parents monitored their
behavior, set consequences for broken rules and
required parental supervision at parties, drank less
[10] in high school and consequently less in college.
